According to a a state-by-state obesity survey, nearly 30% of Mississippi adult residents are obese. The state tops the list published by the Trust for America's Health, a nonprofit group lobbying to make disease prevention a national priority. Mississippi isn't alone. It is one of 13 states where at least one out of every four adult residents is considered obese.

By comparison, Colorado is the leanest state., but still has a 17 percent obesity rate.
